hile early Germanic cultures idealized a death in battle, the costs of war were as great for them as they are for us today. "Pyre" takes a more somber look at the costs of warfare, mainly the deaths of the young men who go to fight. The name and much of the content centers around one of the common burial practices of the pagan Germanic peoples; cremation by means of a funeral pyre.
